hoo boy

I'll preface this post with a disclaimer that wine time started a bit early last night (hey, I was cooking so don't get all judge-y on me) so I had to rewatch a bit of last night. Thank glory for DVR...

Why does Deandre always seem to go first? And why does he ALWAYS SING FALSETTO??? I used to think I liked him, but now I just think I'm obsessed with his hair and it clouds my judgement.... Bottom 3.

Next up was another bottom 3er, Elise. While she slightly redeemed herself on her later duet with Phil Phils, she was screechy and unenjoyable during her attempt at 80s rock. Last week she was good, but I don't think that will keep her into week 7. I also don't think the judges would save her, since this would be her third time in the bottom 3. Bye!

Both Colton and P Phips (new name every time, just fyi) underimpressed me as well, but I admit this section of the night was a bit hazy. They both seemed a tad smug and I think they risk complacency. Especially Philip, who is now starting to seem a bit of an asshole. He reminds me of Dave Matthews, before he got TOO drunk.

Hollie continued her downward spiral, and will probably round out the bottom 3. I wouldn't be surprised if she got the boot, though I'm going to go out on a limb and say it'll be Elise. Hollie's performance only served to make me remember how much I like the (original) song and how much I'd rather be seeing someone else sing it. She has a great voice, but it's not translating well outside of power ballads. Also, why was she dressed like a flapper from the 1920s? It was 80s week! Where was the neon? WHERE WAS THE NEON?

Jessica, blah blah blah. The Whitney choice was a bit of a melodramatic one, but whatever. As Steven might say "she could sing the phonebook and be amazing." Next....

I thought Joshua brought the house down, amen brother. He started slow and then killed it. This year's Jacob Lusk is heading right towards his predecessor's spot, somewhere around #4 or 5, right?

And my girl Skylar. She is the wind beneath my wings and FINALLY didn't dress like a 30 year old mother of two teenagers (you know, slutty on top, cowboy boots on bottom, big hair) and looked classy and simple. Oh yeah, and balled out of control on the song! Yay for her, what a way to end the show.

So, I feel like it's pretty easy to guess that Deandre, Elise, and Hollie will be in the bottom 3. All 3 have a pretty fair shot at going home, but I'm going to go with Elise, mainly because I don't think she has the same amount of tween girl support. Let's see if I'm right two weeks in a row!
